The differences in Microsoft email file designs

Outlook and Outlook Express differ in that Outlook saves all of its messages to one large folder known as a .PST file and Express saves its messages as individual files using the .DBX extension. PST actually stands for personal storage table. When files are lost inside the PST folder it is akin to their being dumped from a database. The PST folder is actually a small writable and readable database. When Outlook Express DBX files are lost they are lost just as any other popular file type might be lost. The recognition data attached to each DBX file has been damaged or removed. These differences make the process of mail recovery for each program entirely unique to one another.
